Effective Load Carrying Capability (ELCC)

Effective Load Carrying Capability (ELCC) measures the reliability value a resource provides to the grid by quantifying how much it can reduce expected loss of load relative to a perfectly reliable (firm) unit. It translates a resource’s variable or uncertain output into an equivalent firm capacity value, adjusting its nameplate capacity based on probabilistic performance during peak or system-stressed hours.
