A California Carbon Offset (CCO) is a verified credit representing one metric ton of CO₂-equivalent emissions avoided or removed through approved projects such as forestry, methane capture, or agricultural carbon sequestration. CCOs can be used by regulated entities to offset a portion of their compliance obligations.
