CAISO’s Monthly System Resource Adequacy (RA) requirement ensures that load-serving entities (LSEs) procure and demonstrate sufficient generation capacity to meet their forecasted peak demand plus a planning reserve margin each month. It is a core component of California’s RA framework, designed to maintain grid reliability through forward capacity procurement, resource deliverability standards, and compliance enforcement overseen jointly by the CPUC, CEC, and CAISO.
